What to do in case you have been a victim of theft?
- Call 911 – We emphasize and encourage you to ALWAYS call 911 in case of an emergency. Even if you also make use of any local emergency response numbers that you might have. The police will let you know about an ETA to come inspect the location.
- If someone broke into your rental property make sure you call the property management company or host of your reservation.
- Check for all the missing items and make a list, as detailed as possible, computer(s) (brand, special indicators like stickers or marks, serial number, etc), phone(s), cash (how much, dollars or CRC), everything that you see it’s missing.
- If you have a way to track your devices, activate it immediately so you can hand this info to the police as well.
- With the list of the missing items, hand it to the police if they arrived and also take it to the local Tourist Police (located in Nosara downtown) to make an official report. Take a picture of the official report and share it with your property manager.
- If your property manager hasn’t done it already, call the OIJ to confirm they have received the report from the local police.
